Helloooo Sandy!!!!!! Bring It…

And Hello to all of you.

Wanted to post some pics of my makeshift generator bunker. Just enough to keep the sheeting rain out of my Honda 2000 watt. Its not waterproof, but from what I read people run these things in normal rain anyways. Now I don’t want sheeting rain on my generator, but if this leaks a bit, I am not worried about it. Its double chained to the tree, with one chain going through a block. So there either coming with heavy duty chain cutters, cutting the tree down, or cutting the handle of the generator. In any case, the blocks will make it a pain in the but to run off with, cutting the handle will decrease resale value. (Also note, the 8′ chain I bought cost twice as much as the block.)

Now this is a generator that has had a tri fuel conversion done to it. I have meant to do a really nice post on it, but need to finish off another, related project first. In the meantime, there is a powerpoint on it here: http://coolprepperstuff.com/presentations/ This presentation goes through all types of interesting things to consider when picking a generator and also includes lessons learned from doing the tri fuel conversion.

I have since found out there is a security bracket for the handle. Will probably try to grab one. http://www.amazon.com/Honda-Theft-Deterrent-Bracket-Generators-Deterrent/dp/B004DQY6B6/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1352244589&sr=1-1&keywords=Honda+Theft-Deterrent+Bracket+for+EU2000i+Generators%2C+Model

Also wanted to take a second to relay a somewhat educational experience I had, courtesy of  my neighbor. I made a post on the forums here: http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?p=4797755#post4797755
